“The cool kid’s Buddhist.”

— The Boston Phoenix

Lodro is a practitioner and teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage. He began meditating as a child and sat retreats as a teenager, even going as far as attending a silent month-long retreat during which he shaved his head and took monastic robes and vows.

When he left for college he received two heirlooms from his parents. From his father, a mala which he had used to recite mantras. From his mother, her father’s flask. He utilized both greatly in the four years ahead. During that time Lodro became a Vajrayana student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He also established Buddhist House, an eighteen person dorm at Wesleyan University which hosts a large meditation room. He began teaching meditation at that time.

After leaving college he was recruited to the position of the Executive Director of the Boston Shambhala Center. He began leading numerous workshops at meditation centers and college campuses throughout the United States and to date has taught meditation at locations as diverse as Google, Harvard, and the White House. Lodro founded a leadership training program called the Institute for Compassionate Leadership, before co-founding and serving as the Chief Spiritual Officer of NYC's premier drop-in meditation studio, MNDFL. Since founding MNDFL in 2015 it has expanded into three studios, an online portal of teachings and a non-profit arm bringing meditation into the education system.

Lodro’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street JournalThe Atlantic, and on CBS, FOX, and NBC News.

He is the author of six books including the best-selling The Buddha Walks into a Bar…, the award-winning Walk Like a BuddhaThe Buddha Walks into the OfficeSit Like a Buddha, How to Love Yourself (And Sometimes Other People) and Love Hurts: Buddhist Advice for the HeartbrokenLodro writes from his apartment in New York City.

MNDFL I :: GREENWICH VILLAGE NYC

Lodro co-founded NYC's premier meditation studio in November 2015. We offer 30, 45, and 60 minute classes every day of the week, featuring expert teachers from a variety of traditions offering simple techniques in an accessible manner. When classes are not in session, the space is open for self-guided practice. We're building a pretty special community and the studio is bustling with regulars and special events. We've also received some wonderful press: T Magazine, New York TimesVogueThe AtlanticThe Wall Street JournalRackedNYMag

MNDFL II :: UPPER EAST SIDE NYC

After classes began selling out in the first MNDFL location, Lodro and his business partner Ellie Burrows knew that if they were to stay true to making meditation accessible to all of New York City they had to have a space where more people could practice. Months later they opened doors to their Upper East Side location at 239 E. 60th St.

MNDFL III :: WILLIAMSBURG BROOKLYN

While building out their second location, an opportunity arose to open a MNDFL studio in Brooklyn, converting a yoga studio into this spacious and palatial home for meditators. MNDFL III opened at 208 N. 8th St in Brooklyn in February 2017.

MNDFL VIDEO :: SUBSCRIPTION BASED MEDITATION ON-THE-GO

Early on in MNDFL's development a number of people came to the studio from out of town and, after taking a number of classes back-to-back over the course of a weekend, would lament that there is nothing like it where they live. Enter: MNDFL Video - dozens of our teachers offering short and accessible guided meditations, all experienced from the comfort of your living room.

THE INSTITUTE FOR COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP ::

Before MNDFL, Lodro founded the Institute for Compassionate Leadership. It started as a six month in-person training program that combines meditation, community organizing skills, and practical leadership training for the modern workplace. In order to make the training as accessible as possible, all of the resources have been loaded online and made available for free.
