Daylong meditation retreat  // MNDFL BROOKLYN : July 29

For anyone who knows it's time to go a bit deeper in practice, this daylong retreat is a golden opportunity to study the ins and outs of shamatha, or calm-abiding, meditation. Lodro will guide you through sitting and walking meditation, and we'll practice mindful eating during a catered sweetgreen lunch (included in cost). Expect a number of short meditations sessions interspersed with talks on discovering our own innate goodness, the obstacles to meditating and how to overcome them. Your booked cushion includes all practice sessions, talks, meeting one-on-one with Lodro or another experienced meditation teacher, lunch, and a copy of the book Sit Like a Buddha. Open to all levels of practice experience.


Writing & Meditation Summit with Albert Flynn DeSilver and Susan Piver :  shambhala mountain center //september 21-25

In sessions led by each of the three distinguished faculty members, you’ll hear inspiring talks, engage in innovative writing exercises, explore dynamic meditation practices, discuss the art and craft of writing, and have the opportunity to share your work in a nurturing environment that engages and challenges writers of all levels, from the novice to the advanced. Because the focus of the summit is on re-connecting with your innate creativity and generating new writing rather than critiquing manuscripts, you simply begin where you are. Do a deep dive into your meditation practice with this one week intensive. Appropriate for newbies and experienced meditators, this is a chance to deepen your understanding of meditation as well as your own mind and heart.

We will practice shamatha, peaceful-abiding meditation, under the guidance of Shambhala teachers and best-selling Buddhist authors, Lodro Rinzler and Susan Piver. Each day will include a mix of meditation, guided contemplation, fresh teachings, and discussion around how to apply our practice to the rest of our world. If you have been seeking a way to build a bridge between your spiritual life and your secular life, this is the retreat for you.
